Why God is Worth Trusting

Evangelicalism is failing to make much impact on the world around us, at least in part because of our obsession with "relevance." Instead of hearing about Christ and why He is worth worshipping, following and, yes, submitting to, we hear "3 Ways to Marital/Financial/Child-raising/insert-your-felt-need-here Success." We go to church looking for a nugget to plug into our lives instead of grid to view the events of our lives through, ultimately shaping how we live in light of pain and difficulty.
The result, of course, is that we get self-centered-but-easily-applied self-help instead of Christ-centered worship. Only the latter will do your soul any good, and, incidentally, only the latter actually offers any real hope in a world where suffering, poverty and tragedy are just part of human existence. If you are struggling right now - emotionally, financially, or in your marriage, to name a few examples - you're looking for a Person bigger than your problem... not a 3-step template solution that trivializes it.
Here is something from Jared - what he calls "a four minute shot of theological tequila to get your week started right."
